                          Contributors


                          Madeleine Brabant
                          is an organizational psychologist in Brisbane, Australia. Her research focuses
                          on intergroup processes, particularly the language used across gender, gener-
                          ational, and organizational roles.

                          Jenny Cook-Gumperz
                          is Professor of Education at University of Californa, Santa Barbara. A sociol-
                          ogist and sociolinguist, she is well known for her work on literacy theory and
                          the social context of children’s language learning. She has also published about
                          gender and language socialization.

                          Saskia Corder
                          graduated with a 1st class MA (Hons) in English Language and Linguistics from
                          The University of Edinburgh in 2004, which included a year studying at UCLA
                          in Los Angeles. She went on to do Consular work for The Foreign and Com-
                          monwealth Office in Beijing until September 2005 and is now in a fundraising
                          and marketing graduate training programme at Cancer Research UK in London.

                          Anne Davidson Lund
                          is Assistant Director of CILT, The National Centre for Languages, the English
                          government’s centre of expertise for languages. A graduate linguist, Anne has
                          worked in education and business in Europe, the USA and Northern Africa.
                          Anne’s doctoral research was in intercultural competence.

                          Diana Eades
                          (University of New England) has published widely on Aboriginal English in the
                          legal system, contributed to the education of legal professionals, and given expert
                          linguistic evidence. Currently Secretary of the International Association of Foren-
                          sic Linguists (IAFL), she has previously served as President and Vice-President.

                          Peter Franklin
                          is Professor of Business English and Intercultural Business and Management
                          Communication at HTWG Konstanz University of Applied Sciences, Germany,
                          where he is also Co-Director of the KIeM Institute for Intercultural Manage-
                          ment, Values and Communication.

                          Cindy Gallois
                          is Professor of Psychology at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Austra-
                          lia. Her research interests encompass intergroup language and communication
                          in health, intercultural, and organisational contexts.
