duction of this book by reading the text or preparing some of the material. Amongst these are Ed
Moses, Marcus Davies, Loh, Joe Lee, Richard Pearson and John Horlock; whilst they have read parts
of the text and provided their comments, the responsibility for the accuracy of the book lies entirely in
my hands. I would also like to acknowledge my secretary, Mrs P Shepherd, who did some of the typing
of the original notes. Finally, I must thank my wife, Veronica, for putting up with lack of maintenance
in the house and garden, and many evenings spent alone while I concentrated on this work.
