as blood vessels (www.jenpolymers.de, www.arterion.se). The European
Chitin Society (www.euchis.org) organizes the annual International Confer-
ence of the European Chitin Society with the aim of encouraging basic and
applied scientific studies of all aspects of chitin, chitosan and their deriva-
tives, and serving as a major tool for dissemination of the results primarily
in Europe. In the USA, the Cellulose and Renewable Materials Division
from the American Chemical Society serves its members by providing
an integrated platform to identify, process, and disseminate knowledge
that advances the science and technology of renewable materials and
biopolymers.
