2.3 Conversions
Units often need to be converted. The least con
fusing way to do this is by expressing equality:
For example, to convert 600 lb thrust to
kilograms (kg)
Using 1 kg = 2.205 lb
Add denominators as
1kg 2.205 lb kg
3 = 33
x 600 lb
Solve for x
600 2 1
x = 3 = 272.1 kg
2.205
Hence 600 lb = 272.1 kg
