larger than 75, the sign on 125 will be used on the sum:
125 þ 75 ¼ 50.

10 þ 48 ¼ ____. The difference of 48 and 10 is 38. Because 48 is
larger than 10, the sign on 48 will be used on the sum: 10 þ 48 ¼ 38.
