                structions can also be conveniently achieved.
                   Petrothermal systems also extract groundwater through open wells, but from deeper
                depths than hydrothermal systems (from a depth of z 5 4000 6000 m). The tempera-
                ture and thermal energy present in the water at these depths can be used for large-
                scale electrical power production and supply.
