on Negativity
here’s only one surefire way to know if employee morale is
T really positive and strong throughout your company—ask
the people who actually work there. If negativity is seeping in,
then it’s time to put an end to all de-motivators in a hurry!
It’s amazing how many managers and supervisors don’t
believe that it’s possible to measure morale. Companies spend
millions measuring every other aspect of their businesses, from
customer satisfaction to return on investment, from employee
performance to employee retention, but when it comes to
measuring employee morale—nothing! Managers probably think
that morale is something intangible. Not true. It can be meas-
ured—and what gets measured is what gets done, just as in any
other area of your business.
Dangers of Not Measuring Employee Morale
It’s dangerous when managers don’t take time to measure
morale in their companies. For instance, managers may take
high employee morale for granted, especially when it’s up and
things are going great. When things appear to be going smooth-
