(A) Saccocoma (pelagic swimming crinoid) typical of the Jurassic and Cretaceous
open marine basinal limestones, on a block purchased from the Museum Berger

(B) Solnhofen micrite with tiny echinoderm plate; facies J9 of Chapter IX.
Sample SB is from the Berger Quarry near Eichstatt, Franconia. This remarkably
fine-grained matrix under a scanning electron microscope shows abundant pieces
of coccolithophores as well as tiny 3 to 4 micron rhombs. Thin section, x 90
(C) Late Jurassic Solnhofen shrimp about natural size from a photograph
purchased from the Museum Berger Harthof near Eichstatt, Franconia, West
