but rather use this as your vision for the future; accept jobs and
take actions that move you ever closer to this ideal. I’ve kept my
original description, which I jotted down in my Filofax, and will
share it here as an illustration. My version is mostly in bullet form.
Some clients have written out whole pages in vivid detail. Others
cut out pictures from magazines to make a collage of their dream
career. However you prefer to do it, invest a few minutes to draft
out your own ideal job description. Remember to make sure it sup-
ports your ideal life and is aligned with your values and passions.
Use the work you’ve done in this chapter and from prior chapters
to help you custom-tailor it exactly to your unique talents, desires,
              and your ideal life.

                            TALANE’S IDEAL JOB DESCRIPTION

I wrote the following when I was twenty-eight, working as
a sales manager for Chase in New York and feeling very
frustrated. At the time I wrote this, I had no idea I would
become a coach or that coaching was a viable profession, as
hardly anyone had even heard of life coaching!

An International Career and Lifestyle: To have an international
career requiring extended stays in warm foreign countries
such as Brazil, Argentina, Greece, etc. Sales, lucrative, exciting.
Here are the components that I associated with my ideal
                  career:

                     International consultant
                     Presentations (energy flow, sharing)
                     Coaching
                     High-level creative (not technical)
Working with business executives, middle- and senior-level
                      management
                     Living in foreign countries
