Page 10 - Convergent Journalism an Introduction Writing and Producing Across Media
P. 10
Acknowledgments
We would like to thank the following individuals for their assistance
on this project: the faculty and staff of the College of Communica-
tion, Information, and Media (CCIM) at Ball State University. With
approximately 2,300 undergrads and 200 graduate students, CCIM
is one of the 10 largest media colleges in the United States. Had it
not been for the CCIM’s cutting-edge approach to all forms of media,
this book would have been incomplete in its scope and lacking in its
composition. Thanks to Acting Dean Michael Holmes, Associate Dean ix
Jacquelyn Buckrop, Journalism Chair Marilyn Weaver, and Telecom-
munications Chair Nancy Carlson for access to your amazing faculty
members.
Special thanks go out to the authors who gave of themselves to help
provide their expertise on a vast array of topics: Wright Bryan, John
Dailey, Jenn George-Palilonis, Michael Hanley, Terry Heifetz, Bob
Papper, Tom Price, Bob “Pritch” Pritchard, and Tim Underhill. This
text is unique in the way it brings together the talents of educators and
practitioners to develop a book that contributes to the new world of
media work known as convergence. We were truly fortunate to be able
to draw from the knowledge of so many great individuals.
Thanks to the reviewers from Focal Press, who provided us with
good feedback and solid ideas. Thanks also to the staff at Focal, includ-
ing our editor, Amy Eden Jollymore, and her assistant, Cara Anderson,
who helped edge us along toward the finish line. Thanks also go out
to Greg Hollobaugh at MSNBC.com and Don Wittekind, graphics
director at the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, for allowing us to share your
work with our audience.
Finally, we would like to thank our families for their patience and
understanding as we worked to complete this task. Nothing is possible
without your support.
