rofessor Dalton Kehoe has been a teacher and
organizational change practitioner for more
Pthan 41 years. Recently retired as Associate
Professor from York University in Toronto, Ontario,
he is now Senior Scholar of Communications in the
university’s Communication Studies Department.
He specializes in interpersonal and organizational
communications and continues to administer two online courses on these
subjects for his department. He received a B.A. in Business Administration
from the University of Toledo in 1964, an M.A. in Sociology from the
University of Cincinnati in 1967, and a Ph.D. in Social Psychology from
York University in 1973.
Professor Kehoe is also senior partner of Heart of the Matter Consulting,
a ¿rm dedicated to helping organizations reengage their employees. As a
public speaker, he presents seminars to organizations in the United States
and Canada on the use of technology in teaching and on leadership and
employee engagement.
His research interests involve two areas: grant-funded investigations of the
effects of using video-streaming technology in blended-learning classes (live
tutorials plus online lecturing), and the effects of leadership communication
on employees’ engagement in their work.
Professor Kehoe’s recent publications include Communication in Everyday
Life (2 ed.) and Communicating in Organizations: Complexity, Constraint
nd
and Creative Choice (both published by Pearson Education Canada).
Professor Kehoe was the ¿rst academic in North America to use
Mediasite Live streaming technology in his classes as part of their blended-
learning format. His research on student responses to video streaming
led to signi¿cant changes in the way he taught online. His work has been
