Page 6 - Fundamentals of Magnetic Thermonuclear Reactor Design
P. 6
Book Summary
The monograph brings together, in a systemic whole, the semi-centennial
design and development experience in thermonuclear fusion projects involv-
ing magnetic confinement. It presents the schematic drawings, characteristics,
functional requirements, design and technological solutions, design optimisa-
tion criteria and modelling algorithms for various thermonuclear fusion facili-
ties. The authors address the problems of the structural and super-conducting
materials, the operational safety and environmental issues. The main attention
was devoted to consistent and detailed description of the international thermo-
nuclear experimental reactor (ITER) that is being under construction in France
(Fig. 1) and its systems. The monograph targets scholars and practitioners in
thermonuclear fusion, as well as post-graduate and senior university students
majoring in electrical/physical engineering.
The monograph is a memory book marking the 70th anniversary of the Efre-
mov Research Institute of Electrophysical Apparatus and dedicated to the veter-
ans of Russian electrical and physical engineering.
