Zhang Meidi is a graduate of the Geological College of Guilin, Guangxi, China. In 1976
she joined the Research Institute of Geology for Mineral Resources in Guilin to research
geochemical methods of mineral exploration, including the application of pathfinder
elements and gas dispersion. During the 1980s she studied heat-released CO2 as a tool for
discovering mineral deposits under exotic overburden. She is now deputy general manager
of the Geological Academic Embassy of the Research Institute of Geology for Mineral
Resources in Guilin.
