Get a Great Job When You Don’t Have a Job

Career changes are not only about doing the
right things to bring about a change. They are
also about being the person it takes to weather
the fears, the victories, and the ups and downs
                                   of profound change.

Here is a list of some of the personal qualities that successful career
changers possess. Make a check next to the particular attributes
you’ve noticed in these exercises or the ones that you believe you
             possess.

             ❑ Confidence ❑ Passion
             ❑ Courage ❑ Perseverance (persistence
❑ Creativity in the face of “failure”)
             ❑ Determination ❑ Persistence
             ❑ Drive ❑ Problem-solving skills
             ❑ Faith ❑ Rationality
             ❑ Flexibility ❑ Resourcefulness
❑ Honesty ❑ Sense of humor
             ❑ Logic ❑ Vision
             ❑ Motivation ❑ Willingness

You don’t have to have all of these attributes to achieve favor-
able results. In fact, if you have just one, you will have enough.
When we get to Chapter 8, I would like you to look back on this
list and see the richness you have to draw from. Looking at this list
and consciously bringing one of your personal attributes to the
forefront will help you make tough choices and weather tempo-
             rary setbacks.

Understandably, many people’s fears about changing careers cen-
ter on having enough money to make it through a period of
