and regarding the organizational incorporation of the expert pools, the project portfolio
group, and the project management office. Boxes and ellipses can be used to depict per-
manent and temporary organizations, for example. The committee for coordinating the
project portfolio can be referred to as the project portfolio group or as the project portfolio
steering committee. In practice, the project management office is also referred to as project
management service or project management support.

The organizational incorporation of the expert pools, the project portfolio group, and
the project management office depends mainly on the size of the project-oriented organi-
zation. Basically, there are no right or wrong solutions.

EXPERT POOLS, PROJECT PORTFOLIO GROUP, AND
        PROJECT MANAGEMENT OFFICE

        Expert Pools

Experts from various expert pools of the project-oriented organization perform the busi-
ness processes in projects and programs. (Instead of expert pool, in practice, other labels
such as resource pool and center of excellence are also used.) It is the objective of expert
pools to provide sufficient, appropriately qualified experts for projects and programs. It is
a further objective to ensure the prerequisites for efficient implementation of the business
processes in the projects by means of professional process management.
