energy output of 506 W-h is required. Since sunlight (solar energy) is the
source of power for photovoltaic systems, we must determine the daily
amount of sunlight in the location of the structure. Because photovoltaic
systems are rated by peak Watt output, the electricity produced at noon on a
clear day is of critical importance in system design.

               2. Show how the system will be hooked up for each location
Figure 17 shows the typical hookup for a photovoltaic system serving a
building. The module contains solar cells which convert the sun’s rays to
electricity. An inverter and storage batteries are used to change the direct

current from the cells to alternating current and to store the direct current.
