When high-pressure feedwater heaters are shut off, steam flow through the
intermediate- and low-pressure turbine sections increases and becomes closer
to the full-load design flow. The reheat expansion line moves left on the
Mollier chart from its derated position, Fig. 7. With steam flow closer to the
design value, the exhaust losses per pound (kg) of steam, Fig. 8, are lower
than at the derated load.
