ment. In such cases, processors may find it more economical to use their primary process
equipment to simply shape the product and then move it to a low-cost oven to complete
the cure cycle more economically. Thus, such post-cure stages are often used for greater
efficiency. This is particularly common after molding and extrusion processing.
3.3 CONCLUSION
Themosetting plastics involve more chemistry and higher cost than commodity thermo-
plastics. On the other hand, they offer many advantages in specialized processes and supe-
rior performance in final products. This is why they remain a vital and growing portion of
the plastics industry. They offer many opportunities for further growth in the future.
