           A major objective in establishing yourself in your new leadership
           assignment is to effectively enter the organization. You will need to
           accomplish the following:

            ■ Meet all the people who work for you as well as new colleagues
              outside your function.
            ■ Make good first impressions.
            ■ Work well with your boss.
            ■ Begin figuring out what you are supposed to do in this job and
              what your job really is.
            ■ Be an advocate for your people.
            ■ Build expectations and hope.
            ■ Begin to increase or sustain the confidence of your people
              through your style and approach.
