Life Cycle Assessment: Principles, Practice and Prospects includes the synthesis of many years’
work by the authors, all of which has been undertaken in interdisciplinary team environments.
We would like to acknowledge the indirect input of our many collaborators, mentors, support-
ers and associates, who are too numerous to name here in full. A shorter list would include
Nigel Mortimer, Robert Matthews, Frances Pamminger, Tony Kelly, Helen Lewis, Kees Sonn-
eveld, Greg Norris, Mark Goedkoep, Bo Weidema, Olivier Jolliet and Frank Fisher for their
various significant influences, inspirational work in the field of LCA and perspectives on
systems thinking.
The authors also wish to acknowledge all those who made direct contributions to the book,
including Fran McDonald who provided essential subediting and comments on the text
throughout. We are also indebted to those who contributed to specific chapters, including Rob
Rouwette, who provided input and advice on the Dutch case study in Chapter 7; Dominique
Hes, who provided input and advice on the Sydney Olympics case study; and Andrew Walker-
Morison, who conducted development work on the BAMS project also mentioned in Chapter
7. Annette Cowie provided input on issues related to forest carbon and LCA in Chapter 10,
while in Chapter 11 John Gertsatkis and Kendra Wasiluk contributed to ideas and projects
reported here by the authors. In acknowledging these contributions, we would also emphasise
that any errors or omissions are entirely ours.
