6.2.2.3 Open Source versus Closed Source

"Open source" for LCA software has been a trend or even a hype. The LCA
VIII conference in Seattle had a dedicated, special session for open source
tools.
What does open source mean? Open source is a specific term developed for
software; open source software is released under a specific open source license.
