facing some very serious decisions and commitments. Will
you leave your current job and start a new career? Will you
ask for that promotion? Are you going to take on that new
leadership role? Can you ever find a job that gives you fulfill-
ment and meaning? When the tough times come, will you
have the support necessary to make it through?
It is my fervent hope that Never Fly Solo will provide the
tools and tactics that give you the thrust necessary to meet
these challenges head-on. I want you to be mission-ready
when the missiles come and to defeat them with confidence
and courage. And I want you to do it with honor and integ-
rity. More than ever, the world needs people who embrace
these core values. It needs wingmen who will stand up and do
the right thing every time.
Most important, I want you to know that you don’t have
to do it on your own—in fact, contrary to the American image
of the maverick, solo-flying entrepreneur, you shouldn’t. You
have the choice to fly with others and let them be a part of
your formation for success.
For now, I ask only that you trust me to fly this mission
on your wing. Let me be your wingman and help lead you to
the target. I’ll have your back, and I won’t leave you behind.
So strap in, fire up your engine, and prepare to release the
brakes. We’ve got a mission to accomplish.
