sion, coworkers, customers, partners, and family, you become
a more trusted wingman.
Courage builds character. It’s the foundation of integrity.
It gives you the thrust to make the correct choices and do
what is right despite the consequences. As an added bonus,
you’ll sleep better at night.
WALDO’S WINGTIPS
When dealing with a lack of integrity in those you lead or
who are on your team:
• Confront appropriately. Put yourself in the other per-
son’s shoes before you say a thing. Hey, we’ve all
messed up at some time or other in our careers.
• If it’s your place to do so, apply immediate conse-
quences that are proportionate to the offense.
• Provide coaching that can help the team member
improve. Don’t hit and run.
• Be consistent. Don’t be one way with certain people
and another with others. If your team sees your stan-
dards vary from person to person, you will lose every-
one’s trust and respect. Remember, justice wears a
blindfold.
