                              horror  cinema’s  premier  and  most  consistently  influential  filmmakers,
                              that  I  once  again  direct  my  attention.  In  particular,  I  examine  how
                              Shimizu Takashi’s Marebito (2004) and Tsukamoto Shinya’s Vital (2004)
                              offer  not  only  indispensable  new  visions,  but  construct  fertile  points  of
                              departure for Japan’s next wave of horror directors.
