About the Editors
Yeshaiahu Fainman is Cymer Professor in the Depart-
ment of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the
University of California San Diego. He is a Fellow of the
Optical Society of America (OSA), the Institute of Elec-
trical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and the Society
of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE).
Luke P. Lee is the Lloyd Distinguished Professor of Bio-
engineering at the University of California Berkeley. He
is also the Director of the Biomolecular Nanotechnology
Center and Co-Director of the Berkeley Sensor and
Actuator Center at UC Berkeley. He is the leader of
Berkeley’s BioPOETS (Biologically-Inspired Photonics-
Optofluidics-Electronics Technology and Science) group.
Demetri Psaltis is a Professor of Optics and the Dean
of Engineering at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de
Lausanne. He is a Fellow of the Optical Society of
America (OSA), the Institute of Electrical and Elec-
tronics Engineers (IEEE), and the Society of Photo-
Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE).
Changhuei Yang is an Assistant Professor of Electrical
Engineering and Bioengineering at the California Insti-
tute of Technology. He was named one of the top 20
scientists under 40 in Discover magazine’s list of Best
Brains in Science, 2008.
