and extensive seismic reflection profiling (the main stratigraphic horizons
being also good reflectors).
Trusheim (1957, 1960) examined the growth of one salt dome, or stock.
The mobilization of the salt and the formation of a salt pillow is reflected in
the development of the Keuper (Fig. 15-9). During the early Cretaceous trans-
gression, the salt pillow became a true penetrative diapir, and what Trusheim
called the secondary rim syncline developed. By the end of the Tertiary, the
salt pillow had been virtually replaced by a mature salt dome. Sannemann
