                 Rule 3: When using distillation or similar schemes, choose a sequence
                   that will finally remove the most valuable species or desired
                   product as a distillate, all other things being equal.
                 Rule 4: During distillation, sequences that remove the components
                   one by one in column overheads should be favored, all other
                   things being equal.
                 Rule 5: All other things being equal, avoid excursions in temperature
                   and pressure, but aim high rather than low.


            Example 2
            Suppose we want to separate a mixture of four components: components
            1–4 into pure products. Assume that they are present in the feed in equal
            amounts: D 1 , D 2 , D 3, and D 4 .
