Jennifer Daryl Slack is Associate Professor of Communication and Cultural
Studies at Michigan Technological University. She began her engagement
with cultural studies in 1975, studying with Larry Grossberg at the
University of Illinois. Currently a book review editor for the journal
Cultural Studies, she publishes in cultural studies, technology and the
environment. Her books include Communication Technologies and Society
and a co-edited collection The Ideology of the Information Age. She is
working on a book on cultural studies and the environment.
Colin Sparks works at the Centre for Communication and Information
Studies at the University of Westminster. He is a low-flying materialist.
Jon Stratton is Senior Lecturer in the School of Communication and
Cultural Studies at Curtin University of Technology. At present he is
Visiting Associate Professor in Cultural Studies at Murdoch University. He
has published extensively on a wide variety of topics including popular
music, sport and American postcoloniality. His latest book, The Desirable
Body: Cultural Fetishism and the Erotics of Consumption, is in press. He
and Ien Ang have collaborated on a number of articles on
multiculturalism, the postmodernization of soap opera, and the
transnationalization of cultural studies.
