of Volatile Organic Emissions from Various Sources Using Small-Scale
Environmental Chambers, including 2004 addenda can be found at http://

Note that the carpet in IEQc4.3 must meet the CRI Green Label Plus requirements,
and the carpet cushion must meet the CRI Green Label requirements. The cushion
requirement is based on a test of manufacturers’ products for emissions of certain VOCs,
which are updated on an annual basis. The compounds and the maximum emission
factors as given on the CRI Green Label website are listed in Table 6.4.3.
The Green Label Plus requirement in IEQc4.3 is for carpets. This program is listed
on the Green Seal website and is a certification that carpets go through a testing for the
release of total VOCs (TVOCs) and 13 individual chemicals. These chemicals are
• Acetaldehyde
• Benzene
• Caprolactam
• 2-Ethylhexanoic acid
• Formaldehyde
• 1-Methyl-2-pyrrolidinone
• Naphthalene
• Nonanal
• Octanal
• 4-Phenylcyclohexene
• Styrene
• Toluene
• Vinyl acetate
