        Exercises
             1. Put together a CPM schedule for sequencing the installation of absorbent materials related to
SMACNA for EQc3.1 and EQc3.2 for materials stored outside. Two options that might be used are
staggered procurement and on-site protected storage.
             2. Put together a CPM schedule for sequencing the installation of absorbent materials related to
SMACNA for EQc3.1 and EQc3.2 with respect to interior painting and finishing and VOCs.
             3. Look up a paint product on the GreenFormat system and list the information.
             4. Look up a wood furniture product on the GreenFormat system and list the information.
             5. Look up a plumbing product on the GreenFormat system and list the information.

             6. Download the BEES program and evaluate the performance of a particular product.
             7. Go to the appliance store and compare the Energy Star labels on four different refrigeration units.
             8. Compare the Energy Star labels on four different television sets.
             9. Compare the Energy Star labels on four different driers.

             10. Identify three different materials or products used to construct your classroom. Find out if
green information is available on the product websites.
             11. Go to the paint department in a store and compare the labels on similar paint products from three
different manufacturers. Compile and compare any environmental data. Go to the manufacturers’
websites and see if green standards are listed for these products. Summarize them.
             12. Go to the carpet department in a store and find the names of three different manufacturers. Go to
the manufacturers’ websites and see if green standards are listed for these products. Summarize them.
             13. Go to a furniture department and find three manufacturers of a specific type of furniture
product (for example, wood chair, mattress, couch, dining table). Go to the manufacturers’ websites
and see if green standards are listed for these products. Summarize them.
             14. Visit a vacant lot in your area and make a list of existing site features that you can see from
outside the property line and other areal information such as direction, access, and nearby utilities.
             15. Go online and see what additional information you can collect on the site in Exercise 14. This
may include mapping programs, land record databases, MPO GIS websites, and state websites.
There are also websites that list areal environmental items such as designated brownfields and
             floodplain information.
             16. Develop an initial site assessment questionnaire that can be used for preliminary site
             assessments from a site visit.
             17. Develop an expanded site assessment questionnaire that can be used to collect information
from local land record offices, departments of public works, and other public record agencies that
will be useful in initial site assessments.

             18. Look up one of the Code of Federal Regulation (CFR) codes referenced in Table 8.2.1.
Summarize your findings. These can usually be found online.
             19. Look up one of the EPA referenced items in Table 8.2.1. Summarize your findings. These can
             usually be found online.
