       Of  these  six,  the  most  significant  and  far-reaching  one  is  that  of
       providing  adequate  personnel  training.  This  means  that  everyone  who
       has anything  to  do with the  sizing,  selection,  installation,  operation  and
       maintenance  of the  pump,  is  fully skilled  and  experienced  in  their  own
       particular  function.  They  also  need  to  be  aware  of  how  their  actions
       impact  the  actions  of  others,  as  well  as  the  overall  reliability  of  the
       pumping  system.


      11.4  Failure  analysis


       As  there  are  only  a  few  symptoms  with  which  to  recognize  a  troubled
       pump,  and  the  key  to  failure  analysis  lies  in  understanding  how  the
