            Starbucks organization, I’ve concluded that this company
            is the real deal.
               Starbucks leadership captures the company’s social com-
            mitment in the mission statement, which notes that Starbucks
            will “contribute positively to our communities and our envi-
            ronment.” Beyond simply stating that commitment, managers
            at Starbucks work diligently to make sure that their mission
            and values guide their day-to-day business decisions. In fact,
            Starbucks leadership has even developed a separate mission
            statement that captures the company’s specific commitment
            to environmental concerns. It states,

               Starbucks is committed to a role of environmental lead-
               ership in all facets of our business. We fulfill this mis-
               sion by commitment to

                  value

               • Measuring and monitoring the progress of each
                  project

               • Encouraging all partners to share in our mission
