Is It Circular?

quandary that families experience creates havoc at work.
Our general manager needed to renew our ERISA bond
for our company’s 401(k) plan. So she called the broker-
age house that set us up with the mutual fund company in-
vesting our 401(k) funds to find the name of the person
handling our account. The brokerage house told her they
no longer have anything to do with our account—that they
only set it up. They suggested that she call the mutual fund
directly. She called the mutual fund. The mutual fund com-
pany told her they only invest the money; they referred her
to their 401(k) fund “administrator company.” She then
called the administrator company. The administrator
company said they knew nothing about ERISA bonds—ex-
cept that the law requires that we have one. They suggested
