SYSTEM OF UNITS (SI)

SI UNITS

The international system of units is based upon:

1. Seven base units (Table D-l)
2. Two supplementary units (Table D-2)
3. Derived units.

The derived units may be divided into three groups:

1. Units which are expressed in terms of base and supplementary units
(Table D-3)
2. Units which have been given special names and symbols
(Table D-4)
3. Units which are expressed in terms of other derived units
(Table D-5).

Decimal multiples and sub-multiples may be formed by adding prefix-
es to the SI units (Table D-6).
