Heavenly
Shortly after my father passed away, my five-year-old grandson, Jamie, was
sitting on my lap on the airplane.
In a contemplative mood, I gazed out the window at the beautiful
cumulus clouds billowing beneath us and the vivid blue sky above.
My daughter had told me that the concept of death was particularly
puzzling for Jamie and that she had been struggling to explain to him the
whereabouts of his recently deceased grandfather.
I commented idly to him, “Look, Jamie, how beautiful it is outside. Do
you think that is what heaven looks like?”
He pressed his nose against the pane and appeared to be studying the
panoramic view. Finally, he turned back to me and said, “Yes, but there would
be more souls around.”
Sounds right to me.
