he Internationalism of Cultural Studies

Indeed, the New Left emerged largely because it was almost
impossible for non-English intellectuals to break into the British left
establishment. According to Stuart Hall, this is a critical point in
understanding the history of both the New Left and British cultural
              studies.

Without colonial intellectuals, there would be no British New Left; and
perhaps no cultural studies. Thus, right from its beginning, British
cultural studies is more than British - rather, it is internationalist.
