LEADERSHIP SECRETS OF HILLARY CLINTON
When you are moving beyond your comfort zone, be
smart and assess your gaps or challenges. Then make a
prudent plan to address them. Great leaders also identify
and tap into their core strengths when they are walking
into any new or challenging situation. This reinforces a
sense of inner confidence as they walk into the unknown.
Finally, prepare to work hard, to study up, and to listen
and learn. Just having this attitude will show other peo-
ple that your intentions are good, and they will be more
willing to support you along the way. This one example
illustrates that Hillary is a master at continuous learning,
and you can be one, too. Here are five secrets to help you
get started.
x SECRET 1: CONTINUE TO BUILD z
YOUR SELF-AWARENESS
Experience tells us that what makes a great leader is the
capacity to look inward and gain a clear and truthful sense
of your values, your biases, your intentions, your strengths,
and your weaknesses. In my previous book, It’s Not a Glass
Ceiling, It’s a Sticky Floor, I discussed seven self-limiting
beliefs, assumptions, and behaviors that hold women back
from achieving their career goals. A key to addressing these
personal obstacles is recognition of what they are as they
play out in your own life. This is called self-awareness. It
