11.4 Chemo-enzymatic synthesis of amino-modifi ed xylogluco-
oligosaccharides (XGO-NH 2 ) and further derivatives (XGO-R) from
tamarind XG. Digestion of the polysaccharide produces a mixture of
oligosaccharides in the ratio 2 : 4 : 3 (Glc 4 Xyl 3 /Glc 4 Xyl 3 Gal/Glc 4 Xyl 3 Gal 2 )
(York et al., 1993). XGO-NH 2 and diverse XGO-R compounds are
substrates for XET, which are incorporated into XG polysaccharide
(see Fig. 11.3).
