       18.  Of course this is prefigured in Clifford Geertz’ famous distinction between
          religious “models of the world” and “models for the world” (1973), which is
          also based on the drive to create the world in the light of the ideal image
          believers have of it. However, whereas in Geertz’ exposé the transformation of
          the world is to occur by following a set of norms, in the cases that stand cen-
          tral in this volume, we encounter a strong drive to capture and as it were col-
          onize the world as a space, which is seen as a stage for the final struggle
          between God and the Devil, and which implicates all domains of society.
