Manager’s Checklist for Chapter 7
❏ Instill a sense of meaning and value for each person at
every level, not just the top dogs.
❏ Acknowledge that every worker defines his or her level of
success differently—and then respect those differences.
❏ Understand that not everyone wants to be in a position of
greater responsibility.
❏ Create a feeling of belonging.
❏ Give workers the tools they need to do the job.
❏ Corporate values can drive morale and keep it high in
tough times.
❏ Statistics and other important feedback on employee suc-
cesses can help create more effective internal programs
that, when successful, will bolster morale.
❏ Take time to explain to employees the direct impact of
their efforts on the organization’s success. Translate that
value into dollars when possible.
