Leadership makes things happen. Appreciative Leadership makes
good things happen, and it does so in positive, life-affi rming ways.
It is a source of human well-being and a foundation for thriving orga-
nizations and communities. By employing the five strategies of Appre-
ciative Leadership and the many practices presented in the prior
chapters, you will make a positive difference—directly, in the lives of
those you touch, and indirectly, for seven generations to come. Your

impact may be personal or systemic, social or financial, local or global.
Ultimately they are all interrelated.
As you adopt and adapt the strategies and practices of Apprecia-
tive Leadership and make them your own, be guided by your strengths,
interests, and areas of responsibility. Your strengths, interests, and
responsibilities will coalesce in the area in which you can be most eff ec-
tive as an appreciative leader. They will indicate your unique domain
of positive power. They will reveal the way in which you can be most
powerful and make the most positive difference in the world.
