est ideals and images of a better world. They are Appreciative Leader-
ship in action, each and every one of them.
Being Appreciative Leadership:
Oh, the Difference You Will Make
Mahatma Gandhi’s famous directive to those who would change
the world, “Be the change you wish to see,” is especially relevant for
those who would be appreciative leaders. By employing the strategies
and practices of Appreciative Leadership, you will over time become
Appreciative Leadership. As you don the mantle of Appreciative
Leadership, you will make a positive difference. Figure 8-1 shows the
relationship between Appreciative Leadership and positive results.
Cultivate Your Character
Th e first and most essential way you will make a positive diff erence is
by cultivating your character. By practicing Appreciative Leadership,
you will become a better person and leader of unquestionable integ-
rity, able to work more consistently at your best. Each and every one
of us has a seed of potential, an inherent positive core to be realized.
