3.4.7 Security systems
Huge numbers of cars are reported missing each year and many are never
recovered; even when returned many are damaged. Most car thieves are
opportunists, so even a basic alarm system serves as a deterrent ( Fig. 3.128 ).
Car and alarm manufacturers are constantly fi ghting to improve security.
