Document Templates
One way to be more efficient in SOLIDWORKS is by creating document
templates. SOLIDWORKS' templates include many settings that are inherited
when we create a part, a drawing or an assembly from them. Depending on the
type of template used, it will include information about the measuring system,
drafting standard, material properties, color preferences, image quality,
annotations display, drawing notes display, even pre-defined geometry if needed.
When we first install SOLIDWORKS and define the system's units of
measure, the default templates are created using the selected units and drafting
standards. To create a new part template with different properties, first we need
to create a new part from an existing template, modify its properties as needed,
and finally save it as a template with a meaningful name. Optionally we can save
our templates to an alternate location to better manage them.

and click OK to make a new part.
