You Have Fire in Your Belly • 63

They all are. You can’t reserve this for the right time, right people, or right
situation. To be ready when necessary, you have to be ready when not
             necessary.
Drive is more important than intelligence.

                                             ƒ

If you’re lucky enough to have passion for what you do, you’re lucky
                  enough.

                                             ƒ

The number one criterion that I want in an employee is to be unre-
                  lentingly positive. Someone who will always find good answers;
always find good compromises. Don’t tell me there are problems.
I know that. Tell me, “Here are the solutions.”

                                             ƒ

Your eyes are focused on the prize. The thought of your goal is always
in the background. If you have an extra half hour, you do something
productive toward it. You prepare yourself all the time.

What Does Optimistic Ambition Mean? What

             Does It Look Like?

If you choose to have it (because it is your choice), you

               ■ Know what you want to do before someone knows it for you.
               ■ Are committed to worthwhile accomplishment.
               ■ Like and enjoy your job.
               ■ Have happy energy combined with intellectual motivation.
               ■ Do what you have to do to be able to do what you want to do.
               ■ Have the kind of attitude that is good for people who hire you,
good for people who work with you, good for people who follow
                  you, and good for you.
