                                              CARBON DIOXIDE 2.149
Carbon dioxide, in the solid form, is commonly referred to as dry ice.
At that temperature it sublimes and changes directly from a solid to a
vapor. Because of this property, as well as its noncombustible nature, it is
a common refrigerant and inert blanket. Carbon dioxide is also used for
                    enhanced oil recovery.
Other uses include chemical manufacture (especially soda ash), fire
extinguishers, and pH control of wastewater. Carbon dioxide is also used
as a fumigant for stored grain and has replaced ethylene dibromide in this
                    application.
