About the Author

Diane Penrod is professor of composition and rhetoric at Rowan Uni-
versity, Glassboro, New Jersey. She is site director for the National
Writing Project at Rowan University and graduate program coordi-
nator for the master of arts in writing. She teaches undergraduate
and graduate courses in evaluating and assessing writing, writing
with technology, information architecture, and qualitative and
quantitative research methods. Her current research focuses on the
influence and function of trust in the college writing classroom. Di-
ane is also developing an essay collection with a group of teachers in
Grades 7 through 12 that centers on teaching popular culture at the
secondary level.
