The OR connector indicates that one or more potential outcomes could occur; it is
not exclusive. Figure 7-8 shows an application of the OR connector, which indicates that
after a payment is processed, the salesperson is notified, or the sales manager is notified,
or both the salesperson and sales manager are notified.

Figure 7-9 shows how the XOR connector can be used to represent the manager’s
decision on whether to approve the expense report. Unlike the OR connector, the XOR
connector is exclusive; only one event can occur after an XOR connector. Figure 7-9
indicates that only one event can occur after reviewing the expense report: it is approved
or it is not approved.
