FIBER-OPTIC CABLE
A fiber-optic cable is a bundle of transparent, solid strands designed to carry
modulated light or infrared (IR). This type of cable can carry millions of
signals at high bandwidth.
Manufacture
Optical fibers are made from glass to which impurities have been added
to maximize the transparency at certain wavelengths. The impurities also
optimize the refractive index of the glass, or the extent to which it slows
