                            Examples include dark or bright spots, different colors, sharp edges, lines,
                            and curves.
                              Interest operators can serve various purposes in a robotic vision system.
                            One function is to eliminate correspondence, an undesirable condition
                            that can occur in binocular machine vision when patterns confuse the
                            machine’s sense of depth. Interest operators provide points of reference
                            independent of general patterns. Another function of an interest operator
                            is to ascertain boundaries, as in edge detection. Such algorithms are also
                            useful in vision systems that incorporate local feature focus.
